Zelve–Paşabağlar Archaeological Site

Zelve's valleys contain rock-cut structures and fairy chimneys. This pin is for the Zelve entrance linked by the official museum page; Paşabağları is a separate area. Zelve was an important Christian settlement and religious centre in the ninth–thirteenth centuries. Balıklı, Üzümlü and Geyikli churches belong to this heritage; habitation continued until 1952. At the separate Paşabağları area, chapels and living cells were carved into multi-stemmed fairy chimneys. A Saint Simeon chapel and hermit's cell occupy one three-headed formation.
